Frequently Asked Questions of Washington County Iowa's Barn Quilt Commitee
"I visited Washington County, Iowa recently and I enjoy your county's barn quilts. Can I buy an already-made, painted barn quilt block for my property, or to my specifications for size and colors?"
WCBQC volunteers work very hard throughout the year to create blocks for the county's residents, therefore we do not provide already-made-painted blocks for interested persons. We are glad you're asking, and we refer you to our home page to order a kit or the instructions at the top of the home page for the link of your interest. Thank you for your interest!
"Do you ship already-made Barn Quilt Kits? What about the instructions? Thanks, in advance."
WCBQC kits include the wood, screws, and other materials that lend to the weight that make shipping cost-prohibitive. Arrangements
need to be made with the kit providers for pick up. Please let us know if you would like to make arrangements to purchase and pick
up your barn quilt kit.
We are always glad to send you the barn quilt instructions, after your payment and form has been submitted
in accordance with the order form.
"What is the standard size of your barn quilts in Washington County, Iowa?"
"Who do we contact if we are interested in a bus tour of the barn quilts in Washington County, Iowa? Is there a cost to have a step-on tour guide and how much notice needs to be given if we want a tour guide?"
"If I decide I would like to have a barn quilt, but my barn is not necessarily on a travelled roadway of the county, can I still have a barn quilt that the committee would help me with?"
Our standard size of barn block patterns are 8' x 8', or 4' X 4' in some instances.
Tour information may be arranged through the Washington Chamber of Commerce office at 319-653-3272. The tour guide does request time for his/her step-on tour time, and ample (two-week) notification is appreciated. When arrangements are made through the Washington Chamber of Commerce office, tour-guide charges and availability of the tour-guide can be discussed. Believe us - though - having a tour guide is really a nice touch to add to the enjoyment of your tour of barns and quilt blocks throughout Washington County.
The Barn Quilt Committee will certainly provide as much assistance as we can with instructional support (kit instructions, or kit-supplied-materials).
Phone Call Assistance will be limited, because our instructions are thorough.
We are glad to have you display your choice of a pattern/quilt
block on your property. Having your block displayed on our map will take plotting, so your address and block information would need
to be provided to us and our webmaster.
